As we are going to make baby food, we must be careful while choosing the right form of avocado. Always find soft non-mushy avocados so that we may mash them easily. Soft avocados are best but mushy kinds of Avocados should be avoided. Sometimes fruit may contain dark marks or bruises on the outer skin, these may be diseased so avoid them and try to look for a fresh and healthy one.

What are the steps to prepare an Avocado?
- Firstly take a fresh piece of avocado, hold it gently, and cut it with a sharp knife from the center along its length and make even two halves
- Now next step is the remove its seed or pit by using the tip of the knife carefully. Separate it carefully without hurting your hands.
- The last step is the removal of the flesh from the skin. Take a scoop spoon and scoop out all the avocado flesh.
What to mix with avocado puree?
As Avocado has a slight or you may say mild taste. Its creamy and smooth texture allows us to mix it with other puree recipes like apple puree banana puree, and peach puree with yogurt.
Cooked or boiled chicken shreds and mashed boiled eggs with honey may be options to be mixed up with avocado puree to add more flavor to baby taste.

How to make avocado puree?
First, we take healthy avocados. Peel it off carefully. Then cut it into two halves in the longitudinal direction. Take out the big one seed inside. Scoop out the flesh inside with a spoon. it’s in the cup. Mix it with a fork. If your avocado is soft enough then use only a fork to mash I choose a blender to blend it. All avocado flesh is put inside a blender with 2-3 tbsp of milk (regular milk) and a pinch of cinnamon spice. Blend to have a smooth, creamy avocado puree.

Feeding Method
After making smooth puree now it’s time to serve it to your baby. Mix the kinds of reactions you may observe after serving this puree. Every baby will give different reactions according to his/her taste. Normally, Babies like to have this puree. When my friend first fed her baby with avocado puree she shared that it was her best and most exciting experience in life because it was her baby’s first solid food experience. She told me that at first, she made a little, not in a good mood but after she used to have it with no complaints!
You may offer your baby food every 2 to 3 hours a day as their requirement is little in the beginning. So we need to serve them more or less 3 to 4 times a day.
Storing instructions
REFRIGERATE
To prolong the period of freshness:
- A few drops of lemon juice mix up with the leftover puree before going for storage.
- Place puree in an airtight container to avoid bubbling with air. Hit the container to the table surface to remove air pockets. Make sure that the container is properly sealed.
- Plastic sheets can be used to cover it so that the lid may not touch the puree surface. It helps to prevent the process of oxidation)
- Refrigerate overnight or for up to 24 hours.
FREEZE
Freezing of avocado is good and safe but after freezing you can see little change in color and texture. It will little mushy. It may also brown during storage or thawing.
For best results:
- Squeeze a little lime or lemon juice into the puree and stir to combine.
- Spoon the puree into flexible ice-cube trays, tap the tray on the counter to knock out any air pockets, and freeze until solid. (Freezing in ice cube trays allows you to defrost the small amounts when you need it.)
- Once they’re fully frozen, quickly pop them all out place the frozen cubes into a freezer bag or container, and return to the freezer.
- Freeze for up to 3 months.
- Thaw in the refrigerator

- If you want to make this puree with water then feel free to add 2-3 tbsp. of water for blending.
