Ingredients for KFC-style zinger burger

Chicken Breast

I prefer using Chicken breast for this recipe. Because you can make them as thin as you need. 1/2 inch thickness works well for this recipe. It’s a myth that breast pieces don’t taste as good as thighs. Trust me, you will see the magic.

All-purpose flour

All-purpose need for dredging pieces.

Sauces

Three sauces will gonna play with chicken fillets to create lovely and juicy chicken patties.

  • Chili garlic sauce (helps to generate succulence in chicken)
  • Soy sauce (helps to ensure a bit of tanginess)
  • White Vinegar ( helps to make chicken tender)

Corn flour

Only a small amount of corn will give crunchiness along with all-purpose flour.

Baking powder

A smidgen of baking powder will be added to the flour for dredging.

Garlic paste

The garlic paste of 2 cloves will add aroma and garlicky flavor to zinger chicken. I suggest using fresh garlic paste, but you can substitute it with garlic powder.

Spices

Chili flakes are the king of spices that elevate the chicken flavour. However, if you don’t have it on hand, feel free to add red chili powder.

Buns

While brioche buns are top-notch, we’ll stick to basic buns for now. Feel free to make your choice.

Toppings

Lettuce and mayonnaise are my favorite choices for putting together burgers. I’m very fond of this pairing. Moreover, you can add cheese too.

How to make a homemade zinger burger

Chicken Marination

I’m planning to prepare an incredible zinger burger recipe using chicken breast pieces. If your breast piece is thin, that’s ideal; otherwise, cut it to about 1/2 inch thick with a sharp knife. Combine all the sauces, chili sauce, vinegar, and soy sauce, along with garlic paste, salt, and chili flakes. Make sure to massage the marinade into all the chicken pieces thoroughly.

Place the marinated chicken in the fridge for 30 minutes. The longer you allow the chicken to marinate, the more tender and juicy it will become.

Preparation for Dredging

In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with the corn flour. Season the marinade with a bit of salt and red chili powder, as we did previously. In a separate bowl, add cold water. This step will transform the texture. It is crucial for achieving the perfect crunch and crispiness similar to a KFC-style burger. Coat the marinated chicken pieces in the flour mixture for 15 seconds, then place them in the cold water for 4-5 seconds. After that, coat them back into the flour mixture by thoroughly pressing and rotating them with your palm. This method will create crumbs on the surface.

Chicken frying

Heat oil on low to medium flame. Fry chicken breast pieces for two minutes on each side until they get a golden colour. Avoid overcooking; otherwise, the chicken becomes hard and loses its nutrients. If using things, it will take a comparatively long time of almost 6-10 minutes, depending on the thickness.

Resting period

Fry all the chicken pieces, 2-3 per batch. Don’t overcook; otherwise, they will not cook properly and become soggy by absorbing excessive oil. Once done. Place the fried pieces on a paper towel.

Burger Assembling

To create a delicious zinger burger, start by toasting the bun in a pan with some oil. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half, then add lettuce leaves and top it with a piece of fried chicken. Finally, place the other half of the bun on top.

Secret tip

The key tip for making this recipe perfect is the use of cold water for creating crumbs. Make sure to follow this step if you want scrumptious, crunchy results. This step ensures the crispness of the coated chicken when touched to hot oil.
