How to select veggies for puree

What type of broccoli is required and what pea should be selected? These are very important and sensitive questions as we are going to prepare a diet for babies. I recommend that always try to choose fresh broccoli with fresh green leaves.

Type of Broccoli

While buying check properly is there any black or brown shade rotten leaves are present or not. Because that spoils the color, texture, and taste of puree and will be unhealthy to serve babies also. In the market, two kinds of broccoli were present one was heavily based like a cauliflower structure and had a dense smell but the other structure was a little tied florets-like. Choose the second type because it has a more green color, a lovely taste, and soft stems.

Type of pea

Peas can be used either in frozen forms after thawing or in fresh forms. It’s up to availability. Both forms are set for puree. In the market, available packed or canned peas may also be used. I know in the market there is a variety of mixed purees available from well-known brands but still, I thought we should focus on introducing fresh homemade puree to our growing little ones as they are safe and free from any additives, preservatives, and artificial food flavors. Our little effort will help our baby to grow healthy, secure, and safe!

Peas are good to introduce as solid starter food?

The answer to the question is Yes! They can be given as the first solid food as they are packed with nutrients and have an appealing bright green color. It is an incredible form of plant-based protein. But you should consult your pediatrician in this regard.

Is peas constipation reliever?

Yes, they act as laxatives as they are rich sources of soluble fiber that reduce the difficulty of releasing poop in babies. Peas as soluble fiber sources attract water to make a gel that helps in digestion and poop release meanwhile insoluble fibers containing food are usually whole grain(wheat, wheat bran). For more understanding Let’s see the difference between soluble fiber and insoluble fiber Every mom knows how she feels when her baby is suffering from this annoying health issue. So feel free to introduce peas as a part of the baby food diet.
