Ingredients
Broccoli
As Broccoli is our main ingredient in broccoli puree we need to take fresh and bright green color broccoli leaves. Avoid mushy kinds of broccoli leaves. Cut the broccoli from the head side and leave the lower part. Use only the upper part for blending. I always recommend you to use fresh broccoli because its frozen form might give you a denser flavor that your child will not like!
Apple
Here I am going to use 1 medium-sized apple along with broccoli because if we use only broccoli then it will give a very sharp and dense taste. While apple with corn oil makes puree taste more rich and sweet.
Coconut oil
1 and ½ tbsp of coconut oil will be added for a smooth texture.
How to make broccoli puree for babies?
Broccoli puree’s main ingredient is broccoli itself. Here we will use apple chunks to make them more perfect and less dense which will suit best our baby’s little stomach.
In the first step, we will prepare all ingredients before going to the next step of cooking. Washing of all necessary ingredients like broccoli leaves and apple. First, cut broccoli into small pieces. Soak them in a bowl of water for 5 minutes. Then rinse them to avoid any dirt particles with running water.
Likewise, wash apple peel and core them. Make sure there will be no seeds left inside. Cut them into small pieces.
Cooking can be done through two different methods. Here I will explain both. You can try this recipe with the method you feel is more convenient.
Baking or Roasting
Place broccoli and little pieces of apple onto a baking sheet in the oven at 420 degrees F, for 17-25 minutes until it can get smashed when pricked with a fork. In a blender blend all tender broccoli and apple chunks with the rest of the ingredients.
Boiling
The second method is boiling. In this method heat up the saucepan or pot. Fill it up with water in its half. Add apple pieces. Wait for them to boil. Cook them for 6 minutes.
Then add up broccoli pieces again and cook for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes check if the broccoli pieces either are delectated with a fork or not.
Blending
In the last step blend apple and broccoli with 1 tbsp. of coconut oil and 1 tbsp. of sugar. Blend for 2-3 minutes until smooth creamy broccoli puree forms. Serve to baby and let him/her enjoy!
